Canada Launches New Cybersecurity Certification Program to Enhance National Security

Toronto, ON – [Date] – In a significant step towards strengthening national security, the Canadian government has officially announced the launch of a new Cybersecurity Certification Program aimed at equipping professionals with the essential skills and knowledge to combat cyber threats. This initiative responds to the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks that threaten both public and private sectors across the country.

The Cybersecurity Certification Program, developed in collaboration with leading industry experts and educational institutions, will offer multiple certification levels tailored to meet the diverse needs of practitioners ranging from entry-level analysts to senior cybersecurity strategists. Participants will gain hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge across a spectrum of areas including threat analysis, incident response, risk management, and compliance.

“The digital landscape is evolving rapidly, and so are the threats we face,” stated Marco Mendicino, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety. “This program is vital in preparing our workforce to respond to cyber threats effectively and ensuring that our critical infrastructure is protected.”

The program is designed to be accessible and inclusive, allowing professionals from various backgrounds to participate. It will be delivered through a mix of online modules, in-person workshops, and practical simulations. In addition, the program includes partnerships with private-sector cybersecurity firms that will provide mentorship opportunities and real-world experience.

Cybersecurity experts underscore the importance of equipping a skilled workforce to defend against the rising tide of cybercrime. “The demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to outpace supply,” said Linda Evans, CEO of CyberSecure Canada. “This program will help bridge that gap and build a stronger cybersecurity posture for Canada.”

The program will roll out in stages, with the first cohort set to begin training in early 2024. Graduates will receive recognized certifications that will enhance their employability and career prospects in the ever-growing field of cybersecurity.
